We’re very happy to welcome Johan Gästrin to Vashly as Fractional CTO.

Johan and Carwan first met in 2019 at WeWork Labs in Stockholm, when they were both building startups of their own. Seven years later, they are building together.

Johan brings deep experience across engineering, architecture and product development. He has worked as CTO at Resolution Games and helped build King in its early days, giving him experience of both building new technology and scaling products used by large numbers of people.

At Vashly, Johan will work closely with the team on the technical architecture, product direction and the systems behind our Candidate Intelligence platform.

Going deeper into Candidate Intelligence

Hiring is changing quickly.

AI is making it easier to search for candidates, generate outreach and process large amounts of information. But finding more profiles does not necessarily mean understanding people better.

A professional profile can tell you where someone has worked and what title they had, but some of the strongest evidence of what a person can actually do often lives somewhere else: in code, research, portfolios, articles, talks and the products they helped build.

This is where we believe Candidate Intelligence becomes increasingly important.

Vashly is going deeper into helping companies understand what people have actually built, why that work may be relevant to a role, and where the evidence comes from.

As Johan put it:

“Finding the right people matters more than ever now that AI is changing how we build, and CV matching won’t get us there.”

That idea is becoming an important part of how we think about the future of Vashly.

Building with more technical depth

As the product becomes more sophisticated, the technical decisions behind it become more important too.

Connecting professional evidence from different sources, understanding what is actually relevant, verifying it and turning it into something useful for a hiring team requires much more than simply adding another AI layer on top of candidate search.

Johan’s experience will help us build that foundation carefully while continuing to move quickly.

For us, his joining is also another step in building Vashly around a strong team with deep experience across AI, engineering, product and design.

We have something interesting to show soon.

Stay tuned.

Welcome to Vashly, Johan.
